Treaty of Waitangi
Understanding of, or commitment to, the Treaty of Waitangi will in some cases be a requirement of the job and be a genuine occupational requirement. In other cases, given the place of the Treaty of Waitangi in New Zealand’s constitutional principles, an understanding or knowledge of it will be necessary and desirable. This is different from requiring a commitment to the Treaty or making a job contingent on commitment to it.
