Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender people

The Human Rights Act makes it illegal to discriminate against a person on the grounds of sexual orientation at work. Between April 2006 and March 2007, the Human Rights Commission recieved a total of 66 complaints and enquiries on the grounds of sexual orientation. Thirty-eight percent of those related to employment (25 complaints or enquiries) or pre-employment (2 complaints or enquiries). Discrimination in employment is by far the largest area of concern for GLBT people who approach the Human Rights Commission for help. The overwhelming message from GLBT groups is that people will fall short of their creative and productive capacities in workplaces that fail to accept their sexual orientation. href="www.neon.org.nz/crownentitiesadvice/resourcelist/glbt/">Resources for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people
