"Shove'em" or "shape'em"

When a bully starts terrorising the workplace, employers have a choice: Try to modify their behaviour, or shift them somewhere else. NEON talks to some human resources managers who experienced very different workplace harassment situations. Positive stories include a workplace focussing on staff retention that preferred to “shape them”, training the entire workforce in effective communication before bullying situations could arise. In negative situations, bullying managers were allowed to continue unchecked. In one case, a bully had a number of personal grievance cases taken against him. The only solution there was to shift the bully, so the company did. It promoted him.
