Female Immigrant Labour key to 'Man Drought'

New Zealand’s female-heavy gender-imbalance is not due to men fleeing, but a disproportionate number of female migrants, researcher Dr Paul Callister has found. Skills shortages in female-dominated service industries such as teaching, nursing, child-care and even prostitution may see this trend continue. New Zealand has 9% more women than men in the 30-34 age group, and a 32% imbalance of Asian women compared with Asian men.
