Pay Equity in the Public Sector
May 2006
Pay equity action is on the agenda for seven public service agencies that are reviewing their Pay and Employment Equity Action Plan. This has the potential to affect 5339 equivalent fulltime staff, 69 percent of them women.
A much larger group of 27,422 staff, 57 percent of them women, will be affected by reviews in the current or next financial year when fifteen other public service agencies begin their reviews.
The agencies leading the way are the State Services Commission, Ministry of Health, Department of Labour, Education Review Office, Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs, Ministry of Women's Affairs and the Ministry of Education.
