Promoting gender equality at work
The Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner at the Human Rights Commission has a responsibility to assist with progress on equal employment opportunities (including equal pay) for women, under the Human Rights Act, 1993 (as amended in 2002) section 17. Under the Crown Entities Act, 2004 Part 3 Section 118, the Commissioner has a responsibility to lead discussions about equal employment opportunities, including pay equity and to monitor, analyse and report on progress in improving equal employment opportunities.The Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner also has a duty to lead the development of guidelines and voluntary codes of practice to facilitate and promote best practice in equal employment opportunities.
